No, Canned pie filling is already cooked, all is need is to out it in a pie and essentially cook the crusts.

Should I Add Anything To My Pie?

Nope, no other ingredients is needed. If you want to you can add a little bit more apple slices (fresh) since only so many apples slices fit in a quart jar, if you feel the need to add more apples to the filling, by all means add a few more from a fresh apple! Why not, am I right? Though it isn’t mandatory.

Make the pie crusts ahead of time, to really make this a quick and easy pie! Use my Paleo Pie Crust Recipe.

Useful Tips:

  • Use foil or pie shield to keep the crust from over cooking or burning, just tear a piece of foil and lightly wrap it around the edges/ outer crust.
  • Brush pie with egg wash to get a beautiful golden color, optional sprinkle with coconut sugar
  • You can pre bake the bottom crust to ensure a crispy bottom, but not mandatory.

Paleo Canned Apple Pie Filling Pie Recipe

This Paleo Apple Pie is so fast and easy using my Canned Apple Pie Filling. Enjoy a quick and healthier apple pie, great for the holidays with less time and stress in the kitchen!

  • 1 Pie Pan
  • 1 Pastry Brush


  • 1 Quart Jar Paleo Apple Pie Filling from canning recipe
  • 1 Egg for egg wash
  • Coconut sugar Optional for sprinkle on top
  • 2 Paleo Pie Crusts


  • Pre heat oven to 425
  • Line a 9" inch pie pan with one crust
  • Fill crust with Paleo Apple Pie Filling
  • Lay second pie crust on top and crimp edges of top and bottom together with fingers. Or use a fork! ( Alternatively you can cut shapes out of the top dough and lay it on top, make sure to leave spaces for venting.)
  • Use a sharp knife to cut slits in top crust to allow steam to vent while cooking
  • Use a pastry brush to brush on egg wash to help brown and create a golden color
  • Optional sprinkle with a little sugar
  • Place pie on center rack in oven and bake at 425 for 20 minutes
  • Lower temperature to 375 and bake for another 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool before serving


You can cook and freeze this pie ahead of time, just thaw and serve.
